Today was a doozie

We are both insanely exhausted and need to head to bed. Here's some photos to keep you entertained while we snooze..

We saw God today. Not only in the scenery but the fact that were still alive after the longest 6/7 hour "trail" we've ever been on.. Oh and I almost stepped on a serpent, almost...

Day 7

Wowza. It's been 7 days since we took off. Today was a heck of a lot better then yesterday! It started off rocky. We took the shuttle instead of the taxi and that lead to all kinds of strangeness. Somehow we understood enough of the drivers Asian accent to know when to get off the shuttle.

We picked out a Nissan for our rental car, well, technically I picked it out with a huge ass grin on my face and Chelsea swears she didn't care!! She named her Nancy the Nissan :)

It took the two of us to navigate our way out of the city. Well technically Chelsea would shout "turn NOW" when ever I needed to turn. I was so focused on the road and not side swiping any cars.  we made a good team.

We made a pit stop on the side if the road for some peaches, apricots, nectarines, and plumes?. Yeah we don't know what it is either but we figured it's gotta be fresh and locally grown. There's no better time to try.

Our hostel, which is basically a dorm, is in a tiny town. Lots of local barn quilts for me to photograph for mom :) we escaped the heat by having one then two cider beers at the first saloon in CA? Or something close to that. I'm typing this after feeling those cider beers!! Out hostel does not have AC and holy hotness in this joint! We are really, really looking forward to our yurt in a couple days!

Tasty cider beer!! Locally brewed!!

Some of the scenery on the way

Chelsea flell in love with this cafe!!

German sausage with kraut and sweet potato fries for me!!

Our produce stop!

The view from the cafe!

I found this on top of the Nissan. I really hope Nancy isn't a dealer :)

The Day I Don't Want to Speak About

Today started out as a good day. Then around 1pm it took a turn for the worse.

Needless to say, we are hanging out in our hotel eating guac, garlic fries, burger and grilled cheese. It was that kind of a day

So here's some random pics I took on my iPhone

San Francisco Day 5

Over 10 miles of walking today! Whew! We are hanging out at the hotel watching undercover boss. We had a pretty productive day. Started out by taking a tour bus to Muir woods. My iPhone was not taking good quality photos, so none on this post. Sorry! I had to use my Nikon for this portion of the day.

We had the bus driver drop is off in the North Beach area. Unfortunately the area was a little sketchy so we scooted away pretty quickly. We ended up in the financial district where I finally got to a Starbucks. There's absolutely none in our  neighborhood. The hotel coffee is so terrible I resorted to melting chocolates in them to help "improve" the taste.

We finally made it to the Italian neighborhood aka "little Italy" and are at a restaurant devoted to garlic :) Chelsea is still trying to get the garlic taste out of her throat! Then we made it to China town!

So three items on our Things To See list checked off! Tomorrow is our last day in the city. We have two places left to see. Today we realized were over this City and it's ability to make you hemmorage money. The warm weather and clean air is calling our names!

Each area or neighborhood has the flag if it's native county on the light post. Below is Italys.

Day 4 Recap (Napa)

This is a backwards post. So starting at the end of the day: Google walking map has been a life savor so far. However tonight it decided to take a turn for the worst. After eating dinner at a café, google maps took is up this hill. Take a close look. It's only two blocks but they were straight up. Did I mention we were wearing a dress and lugging a trader joes bag with a gallon of water and groceries? If that wasn't bad enough, Google had us walk one block after reaching the top only to go back down it!!!!

Remember that café I mentioned? This is what we ate!

Naturally mine didn't have any lettuce, only basil!

Pretty flowers on the way to the café

This tree looked like a root potato. So strange!

Flavored Salts at Napa!!

Pinot

Lotsa vino!

Grapes

Flowers are plentiful around here!

Pedicure catastrophe. Peeked right off !!

Rows of grapes like we have rows of corn!

Day 3 recap

Well, today started out with me waking up with a painful throat. I shouldn't be surprised. It happens whenever I'm in a room with a large group of unfamiliar people such as a wedding or in this case, an airplane! Brunch was at a café by the ocean. I had poached eggs with salmon, avocado, and potatoes. I was bummed my stomach wasn't happy with salmon that early in the day. The daily iced coffee made up for it!

We went on a double decker bus and got a good overview of the city. The pic below has the rainbow in support of gay rights.

This building as real gold on the roof. The photo doesn't do it justice.

Nice legs! Welcome to the hippie district!

Figure this one out.

Going through a tunnel on top of the bus... Can we say windy?

Hello golden gate!!

This photo is an understatement of the wind. I'm pretty sure my hair was straight up in the air longer then it was down!
